Sorry you didn't like it, Ryan. Clock modules are useless, and nobody wants them, you're right... even though there are a whole bunch on here and in the Google directory. Whoops!

Thanks for this module. I actually do want a simple clock and date module, and yours is the closest so far, I think. Everybody seems to go overboard because they can, and hardly anyone here has made a simple digital clock with date option, both in text format.

Just a couple of improvements.
Could you make it a little smaller and add the date as well?
These could be options (date format, text size).

This module actually cheats and uses images for the clock digits. I do have another module, found here: www.googlemodules.com/module/376/ , that displays the date and might be more what you're looking for.
