I use the sticky note as my to do list. I don't use reminders or checkboxes, so I love it. The only thing keeping it from percfection is the spacing. The spacing on the bottom of the Sticky Note display seems to keep growing the more I add things (i could be mistaken on the growth rate -- but i do know for sure there is a substantial amount of unused space that is maintained at the bottom), so the yellow sticky is twice the size of the notes i've added. I don't suppose it's possible to make the Sticky size only be long enough to contain the list? thanks!!

Hi, Sophia. I like to thank you for making such a wonderfully useful module. I kinda prefer this over the to-do list... I tend to be more messy.
I do have a question, is there a limit to the number of characters allowed using this module? I realised it uses one of the hidden user preferences parameter store data... I'm just curious.

there seems to be a limit to 1000 characters only. UserPref doesn't allow storage of any more than that ... Or maybe it's the URL that's being called...

No, it is the UserPref variable that is maxing out.
Back when the API was first released I pioneered a way to hi-jack the edit form that all modules had that allowed you to programatically update a userpref variable; however, now, we have hidden variables and a javascript set() function to do this (it appears all of my whining in the api group way back when payed off.)
I can't remember off the top of my head if it was 1,000 or 10,000 characters max when I tested it awhile ago, but it was either one of those. If you came up with 1,000, that is probably it.

I would have thought it's the URL limit since .set() uses a new image call to send the data... and a URL string can only be up to 2048 characters long. So, maybe that's why it can only store up to approximately 1000 characters (minus the other parameters and the original hostname and such).
I was doing this www.googlemodules.com/module/708/ when I found that it malfunction at one point.
.set() is useful and helpful... (Thanks to you I must say :D ) but it's still only available if the modules are inlined. It'd be nice to be available to non-inlined modules too but I'd doubt they allow it.

I found a bug... a tiny problem... an odd one... When using sticky note I insert some <!-- and --> comment tags. It was saved but when I load the page again... it failed to display properly. So... most likely this is a broswer issue...

Does the Sticky Note module have the capability for a user to save notes from more than one computer?
When I am at work I make a lot of notes. I then go home and use my desktop and laptop on a wireless network to try and make notes to Sticky Note but they don't always get saved.
What do I need to know and do to be able to write notes from all 3 computers and have them "stick"?
The file is being saved to remote server I assume. I have always been able to keep notes written from work and be able to read them from home, but not vice versa.

vow. You are the author of this one too!! I love Sticky Notes and To-Do-List and the World cup module.
But with Sticky Notes and To-Do-List sometimes the notes i paste doesn't get saved. I'm using firefox 1.5.0.4. Is there any limit to the number of characters, lines etc?

You can always access the google personalized homepage over https i.e. www.google.com/ig. Or just use this module recently posted instead www.googlemodules.com/module/1392/

This is the best and most clean sticky note gadget among others.
I installed it on my google personalized homepage long ago.
Now I would like it installed on my Blogger blog, but I can't figure out the "inlined" requirement even after I looked it up in FAQ.
So would everybody give me some more info to get the things done?

I just tried to make an addition to my sticky notes, after which all my other notes below it disappeared. This amounted to about 12 lines of information that just went up in smoke. Is there anyway to retrieve this? is this a known bug? There is no way I deleted all these notes, but they are gone nonetheless.

I lost pages of notes I typed. I've do computer tech support and am very versed with computers. There is a bug with Google Sticky notes. So be warned, you could lose this information randomly without warning.

I've used my sticky note for a long time, more than a year. As you can assume I've been writing for a long time and the sticky note was huge, going far past all my other google modules. But today, I'm not sure what happened, but EVERYTHING over the past year was gone and deleted leaving an empty space. Can I get any of this back? Like others have mentioned, PLEASE include some sort of archive or something to prevent all this data from being erased for people like us!!
