In my lab, I am continually cutting myself and trying to measure how much blood I can lose before I pass out or die.  Everytime I end up waking up in the hospital and can't remember how far I got.  Now I'll know when to apply pressure!  Thanks!
PS Luke is right!

Any nurse or physician working with sick patients would need to know this!

As a doctor, it's important to know how much blood-letting is appropriate in one session, to get as much of the bad blood out as possible without killing the patient.

Well, *I* use this allowable blood loss calculator all the time (I'm one of the authors). It helps me make decisions about how close to needing to transfuse someone I am and when to double check a hematrocrit before doing so.  I also use it to cheat and calculate the blood loss working backwards from the hematocrit to double-check my impression of what blood loss during a case was.

Ahh, another example of why the "anyone can post a comment, even kids with nothing better to do" is such a bad idea on most sites.

You offer a useful medical tool for free, and kids who don't understand it decide to trash-talk it.

True, but sure you can just ignore them. What formulae do you use?

Clark is exactly right.   I had been on the trauma table and this information was monitored every 5 hours to determine weather or not i would need emergency surgery due to an internal organ injury i suffered....

So to the kids who post on here keep playing your video games, this is an excellent tool and potential life saver
