I like the idea but this is really hard to read.  Also, it says it's supposed to highlight today's date but it definitely doesn't. I think it's bolding but that's really hard to see.  Can you make it look something like this other module?  russelldad.googlepages.com/googlecalenda...
– Suzanne 27 months ago
This is great!  Works really nicely!  Also love the Greasemonkey script by the same author that integrates Google Calendar in to the Gmail navigation sidebar.
– Quash 27 months ago
thanks for the feedback - I am working out the parsing issues and then will get it to look different -- as for highlighting..BOLD is correct - on the plate to fix with the formatting -
– cgm 27 months ago
This is superb!

Is it possible to show two different calenders? In one module ... or with two of them on my homepage???

Thanks a lot ...  :-)))
– quakfrosch 27 months ago
I think you can load two modules
– cgm 27 months ago
Hi, My calendar shows the wrong days ? (out by +1) any ideas ?
– Nick 27 months ago
Best. Module.  Ever.  Great work!
– Joe 27 months ago
It looks really great, but the times are off by 3 hours.  I'm in Eastern time, it's showing Pacific.  (ie.  what shows as 9:00 am on my regular Google calendar shows as 6:00 am in this module.)  I looked around to see if this had been fixed/tweaked/whatever, but couldn't find anything.  If you can point me somewhere for an answer, that would be great - thanks!
– Laura 27 months ago
Hi cgm,

Currently I am not able two load two modules. If I do both show the same calender. Although I use different settings ...

Could you fix it? Your module would be perfect! ;-)))
– quakfrosch 27 months ago
quakfrosch - if you go to add module by url (from the ADD content link on google/ig) - if you input the direct link but append something to it so it looks like:

r2unit.com/gmodule/gcal.xml

this _may_ allow the personal home page to load them as separate entities.

DATE/TIME/ISSUES - some of those were addressed and resolved last night -
make sure (as of noon 4/21) you have v0.1.8.  If you are still having the DT issues, please email directly so we can work on this while seeing your feed.  My email is above.
– cgm 27 months ago
Hey....thanks for the work on this module!  I know it's still early and lots to work out.  But....here's my problem:
I have 5 calendars listed under "My Calendars", the first one being the default one, and also the only one I really want to work with this module.  However, it will not work if I copy the private XML address....it just comes back saying "The response from Google contained invalid XML."
If I manually save the XML from my private feed as 'basic.xml' and pop it onto another server then use that location for the URL, it displays my stuff just fine.
Now...it does work fine using the private XML addresses from my other 4 calendars.  And I've also noticed that when I paste the private addresses into my browser, the calendar which won't work takes noticeably longer to load also.  Any ideas?
– Marshall 27 months ago
make sure that the URL ends in either /full or /basic(definately not (?gsessionid=xyz123abc) -- preferably /full

if that doesnt work - email me, if you dont mind sending me your private url (which you can change later) and we can diagnose
– cgm 27 months ago
This is really great! Thanks!
– Dana 27 months ago
This is really great! Thanks!
– Dana 27 months ago
It's showing an event that I deleted. I have a recurring event and I deleted one instance of the series, and it's still showing up. This is not a big deal, but maybe you'd like to know about it.
– dw 27 months ago
v .1.11 = fixed marshalls issue - feed was too long.

DW - if you can send me your feed URL I can look into it (please let me know which event date/time/title was the deleted one)

– cgm 27 months ago
I am having issues with the new version 1.11 Its giving me  "No Events Found."  in both opera and IE6.  I tried getting a new feed and putting that in there but no dice.  I appreciate the hard work.
– Eric 27 months ago
v.1.13
fixed Eric's issue (IE date formatting failure - do not know about opera).  Also added single line date format - tries to force date/time into one line.  Best if used with toggling date features on/off (year, day, etc)
– cgm 27 months ago
This last version gives me exactly what I wanted, thanks!!!  Prior, I was not getting next weeks events, but rather 2 weeks from now.  I changed to 15 days ahead, and now I can see what's happing next week.  Thanks again!!
– Dave 27 months ago
Thanks it works now. One last thing and this may be out of your control, I have my classes on Gcal and only some of them are showing up.  Any ideas why that is happening?  Thanks again.
– Eric 27 months ago
eric - I would need to see the feed to intepret what is happening.  Feel free to email the URL feed and I will disect it - you cna alwayscreate a new private feed string after we get you all fixed
– cgm 27 months ago
Single line format doesn't seem to be working. Regardless of how I toggle it, it doesn't seem to display afy differently.
– Jon 27 months ago
it takes dates that would look like:
apr 22 2pm
apr 23 3pm

and 'tries' to make it: apr 22-23 2p-3p.  Do you haveevents that cross days?
– cgm 27 months ago
The deleted item from my recurring event is no longer showing up. Thanks!
– dw 27 months ago
The module does not work together with another module called 'Event Calendar'
– Shanzhen 27 months ago
do you have the link for the other calendar?
I am about to push an update .17

v.1.17
plays nicely with multiple instances of this module
update edit screen
fixed a typo causing nov. dates to be invalid
– cgm 27 months ago
There is now an error in formatting if you exclude the year.  The date and time don't have a space between them (i.e. April 227:30a~8:30a should be April 22 7:30a~8:30a).
– Dave 27 months ago
v.1.18
should be all set with the formatting.  Let me know if it changed any of the other combination of formatting.
– cgm 27 months ago
Doesn't seem to support daily recurring events correctly. At the moment my daily recurring event is showing up as a weekly recurring event.
– Dan Warne 27 months ago
I just noticed that All Day events are showing as the next day in the module.

Thanks for a great module, even better since we can now have multiple instances.
– Steve 27 months ago
I have an event starts May 28 and ends June 2 all in 2006.  In single line format it shows as:

Sun     May     28~Jun &nbsp06                   Summer Half Term

in non-single line format:

Sun     May     28                   Summer Half Term
Tue     Jun     06

Also not a huge problem but just also noticed that with multiple instances the version number and about>>> link disappear
– Steve 27 months ago
The 'Event calendar' link:
www.googlemodules.com/module/65/
and one more suggestion, it'll be great if the user can input numbers in the option, eg height
– Shanzhen 27 months ago
Dan/Steve -- For both your event issues.  Can you send me a link to a feed that demostrates this behaviour.  Thanks

- format issue should be fixed

- I will look at that module conflict
– cgm 27 months ago
Shanzhen - regarding that other module - I can't even get it to work without my module on the page.
– cgm 27 months ago
Is it possible to make the background transparant cause I use a background. Now I can´t see the background as one whole
– Richard 27 months ago
Richard - does the whole module block your background -OR- just the events that are displayed. Meaning, can you see the background behind the current date at the top of the module.

Do you have another module that handle this correctly so I could reference.

Thanks

– cgm 27 months ago
v.2 released 4-23 : 11PMcst

- multiple calendars (saved in google/bookmarks)
- cleaner interface
- better date handling

please report bugs.  Thanks
– cgm 27 months ago
I'm having the same problem as Eric above with some of my classes not showing up. I sent you my private link.  Great work though.
– Evan 27 months ago
Actually how do I send you my private link...accidentally sent it to the wrong person.
– Evan 27 months ago
Great module!  Only one suggestion: ability to view multiple calendars at once.  As it shows up on my Agenda tab in Google Calendar when multiple calendars are selected.  Other than that, Great Work!
– Mark 27 months ago
evan - my email address is above the comments -

mark - thanks, multiple calendars intertwining is a possibility, it may just be a fetch/parse nightmare..let me think about this some more
– cgm 27 months ago
Evan, I found that my problem with some classes not showing up was due to the fact that I imported it from MS Outlook so if you just create it in GCal it seems to work fine then.
– Eric 27 months ago
Thanks Eric...I'll do that.  Does anyone know of a program for Windows that can subscribe to Gcal like iCal does?
– Evan 27 months ago
Evan - check out: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ICalendar
it says that outlook can be configured for it with a open source plugin
– cgm 27 months ago
Dear cgm,

is it possible, that saved Google bookmarks only works with "/basic"-links instead of "/full"?
I got an xml-error if I try to use "/full"

Greetings, quakfrosch
– quakfrosch 27 months ago
I also found out that events I imported through ics (or was it csv?) file wouldn't show up in your calendar. As someone already pointed out above, editing or recreating the event directly in Gcal is a workaround.
Further it would be great if the drop-down menu for multiple calendars would be a check menu instead (maybe part of the settings), so we can decide which calendar events to show from multiple calendars. It's too bad google didn't just add label functionality instead of separate calendars, then we wouldn't have this problem in the first place...
Finally you've done a fantastic job so far, apart from the little problems above it works like a charm and I love all the added features!!
– Antonio 27 months ago
quakfrosch - the script actually converts the url to /full first in an attempt to retreive the larger data set.  It should be working whichever you type in.  You can test the link itself in the browser to make sure it can pull something.  I am not 100% sure that every feed can have a full.  Early tests showed that some shared calendars would not return anything proper.  But as I said, testing the link in the broser first is a good way - and then if that fails - shoot me the link in an email

Antonio - thanks for the clarification of what does and does not show.  As for merging the feeds, I have to think about this some more.  Right now some feeds take a while to pull, and therefore if many come, it might just hang the script.  Possibly if multiple are selected, it only forecasts out 7 days so the feeds are not that big.
– cgm 27 months ago
Dear cgm,

v2.03 is wonderful! Now I have one instance with date and time and an other one without ... :-)))

I have retested the "/full"-miracle. Problem has been, I have a bookmark with a dot (".") within. With one instance on the homepage this calender won't shown. With two instances you get the xml-error. => It has nothing to do with "/full" or "/basic". I have changed my bookmark description and everything works fine.

Thank you very much again for your big effort, quakfrosch
– quakfrosch 27 months ago
Love it, it's wonderful! Had a few problems loading multiple calendars (kept loading forever), will look into that in more detail later, see if I can figure out the problem. Works beautifully with one.

One minor request: any chance of being able to choose 24-hour clock?
– hjsb 27 months ago
Sorry Chris my single all day events have returned to displaying in the module as the next day.  Also for a multiple day event the final day is displaying in the module as the next day.  My times are also 1 hour earlier than in the calendar.
– Steve 27 months ago
Steve - strange, thought that those kinks were all worked out.  Could you send me a feed which displays this behaviour so I could diagnose???

Regarding 24 hour display - do you think that if one chooses 24 hour display they want it for both the clocks and the events, or would they want to specify for either or both? so I guess there could be 3 combinations.. thoughts??
– cgm 27 months ago
v.2.05
looks like they changed the format - <again>
I pushed a new update - should fix it, hopefully I didn't break anything else

– cgm 27 months ago
I too, have difficulty with events showing one day off.  Earlier today (or was it yesterday) it was displaying fine.  The module currently being used is 2.04.

Thanks!
– Charles 27 months ago
My times are two hours earlier than they should be---I'm Central time (currently GMT -5 I think, due to Daylight Savings Time).   v.2.05
– ibm5_25 27 months ago
ride em cowboy!! that's what I get for trying to keep up with the googlies changing stuff

v.2.07
time format fix
time zone fix (??)

please report trouble
– cgm 27 months ago
Thank you for the 24 hour clock!

Hmmm, dunno what I'm doing wrong with the multiple calendars though. As far as I know it's set up correctly: set the labels exactly the same, tried it with one or two calendars, but it just sits there with the message "Retrieving Bookmarks...". It also stops my Gmail list from getting my mail too. The time displays correctly. The really weird thing is that I have had it working: I distinctly remember having the dropdown box. Any ideas? Let me know if you want me to try anything.
– hjsb 27 months ago
PS I would have though that if someone wants 24 hr clock they want it on both events and clock... that's certainly the way that most other software works. But it works the way you've done it, and gives a bit more configurability, so I don't see a problem with it.
– hjsb 27 months ago
Argh!! Really confused. I just added a new module, and now it works (even though I've since deleted the new module). I'll let you know if it goes away again...
– hjsb 27 months ago
Gone again. No obvious reason. I can get it back (temporarily) by adding a new module, but that only lasts for a little while. Don't understand it.
– hjsb 27 months ago
hjsb - does it work smoothly when you only have one module installed??
it retreives the bookmarks pages and needs to extract your label/bookmarks.  Depending on how many bookmarks, your computer speed, etc - getting one could take a bit of a time, getting two even longer, etc.  Then it grabs your calendar, same issue, one takes a while, two takes longer.

When testing multiple - I have noticed that if I limit the days ahead it helps.  How many bookmarks do you have?  Maybe if you have a lot, split them into two groups of labels, one for each module?

These are just thoughts

– cgm 27 months ago
I've tried it with one and two bookmarks, the same thing happens. I don't think it's a speed issue, because I've left it for ten minutes and it still says the same thing. It's currently limited to (I think) 14 days ahead. I'll test it now with only one module installed, and post back.
– hjsb 27 months ago
Hmmm, no, still nothing. Doesn't seem to be a weird browser issue either: my usual system is firefox on linux, i've tried it on ie6 on wine, ie6 on xp and firefox on xp and the same thing happens.
– hjsb 27 months ago
hjsb - I just put a new update out - the status messages are much more indepth.  Please let me know where it ends.. it should go

Retreiving Bookmarks

Found: 1
Found: 2

Requesting Calendar

Loading

and then the calendar appears
– cgm 27 months ago
Using 2.08 now. Doesn't get any further, still sticks on "Retrieving Bookmarks...".
– hjsb 27 months ago
hjsb  - can you email me cgmckeever - r2unit -
It looks like you are not getting response back from google/bookmarks
I have a version that will timeout and let you retry, I don't want to release it into the wild without some more testing (YOU)

– cgm 27 months ago
Using v2.08 BST (GMT+1)

Timed events showing correct DAY and TIME

All-Day events showing 1 DAY early (ie FRI instead of SAT)
Multi-Day events also showing end-day 1 DAY early

Otherwise, great stuff, thanks.
– Catterbutts 27 months ago
i know they already mentioned the merging of calendars and that it is a problem if they are huge. Maybe you could trim them before merging them. Just brainstorming here, coz it would be really great to see the calendars merged into one.
Anyways, good work ;)
– xenonii 27 months ago
Catterbutts - can you send me a feed url that shows this behaviour so I can look into it -
thanks

xenonii - I am 'thinking' about the best way to approach this
– cgm 27 months ago
nice work so far!
the thing i am missing most is the merging of calendars
(as some others miss too)
plz think abut it :)

– ukio 27 months ago
There is currently a bug from Google itself - I will be holding off 'fixing' the day/multiday
times/dates until this is released

groups.google.com/group/google-calendar-...

"There is still an outstanding issue with the date values themselves
for all day events.   A timezone shift is being incorrectly applied to
the date values (causing the dates themselves to shift).  The fix for
this is in the works. "
– cgm 27 months ago
I thought maybe this will be interesting for you to know:
I've made many attempts trying to import data from ICS and CSV files to my google calendar, while having issues with the timezone shifts and sometimes the imported events not showing up at all and sometimes failure to import.
As a result of this playing around, while the import feature still isn't/wasn't working flawlessly, I seem to have (corrupt?) events in my Google calendar that don't show up in my Google calendar, but that I know were imported.
Now, with your module, if "Days Ahead" <= 60 it shows the corrupt events that are invisible in my Google calendar. If "Days Ahead" >= 90 it shows only the events that also show in Google calendar..
Strange huh?
– Antonio 27 months ago
Antonio - yes, others have reported this.  I will post something on the API group.  Can you and the others that are experiencing this file out a bug report in GCal - would like to get this resolved.

Thanks
– cgm 27 months ago
I followed the instructions to show multiple calendars and they won't load now...  It just keeps saying "Loading Calendar..."
Tried in 3 different browsers, same result
– Mine won't load... 27 months ago
Mine - in firefox tools -> javascript debugger
can you let me know if there are any errors in there (you may need to clear debug and then refresh IG to start from a clean debugger)

if that doesnt show anything of use, can you send me your ffed URL?
– cgm 27 months ago
Anyway to get it so that as the day goes by the events that have passed disappear?
– Adam 27 months ago
I agree, that would be nice :-)
– hjsb 27 months ago
v.3.02
- multiple view.  You can use default colors or define them in the bookmark using the form:  'YOUR TITLE#cc33cc' where cc33cc is the hex color of your liking
- label drop down removed from edit window and replaced with Color Coded Legend in main window
- option to only display 'Upcoming Events'

please report issues/feedback

thanks
– cgm 27 months ago
Marvelous work. The latest version offers everything I was looking for, and more. Thanks.
– koenm 27 months ago
Thanks for your work, but it keeps saying "Found: Input Feed
Requesting Calendar: Input Feed" for hours without showing any contents of my calendar :-(
– digitus 27 months ago
I really like this module. For me it makes the calendar much more useful.  However, like everyone else, I do have a request.  Is it possible to have multiple Calenders show up in one module?  I would imagine something like your drop down list but with check boxes as well so you could check whatever calendars you want.  Anyway, its just a thought.  Great Job! and Thank You!
– Christopher 27 months ago
I hadn't noticed that you'd put the "upcoming only" checkbox in! Very nice. What do people think about a (stronger) highlight for the event (or events) that is (or should be) currently taking place?
– hjsb 27 months ago
Very nice module. 2 issues:
- Why not the possibility to display 4 events? In that way the white space under the events wouldn't be so big.
- The bar in front of the events is ugly (My oponion).
– Spie 27 months ago
Please forget my recent posting - on my private pc everything works fine. Thanks.
– digitus 27 months ago
hej good job on v3.02. i've been waiting for multiple calendars
– hezink8 27 months ago
Chris.....just wanted to thank you again on behalf of everyone else for your work on this.  And your ability to take the time to quickly respond to issues and continually add more functionality.  The multiple calendars on a single view kicks ass.  Only thing I could think of to change now would be some small interface tweaks to make certain things more intuitive.  Thanks again!
– Marshall 27 months ago
Appointment times that have passed are still showing in the list. For instance, I had something on my calendar for today 12-12:30 and it's now 1:15, but the item is still showing up in the Calendar Module. Would be nice if it was drop off after the scheduled time. Great module though!
– Nick 27 months ago
Nevermind...I missed the upcoming only box too! Great work!

Thanks for addressing my request. 3.02 was nice, 3.03 is awesome just for getting rid of that left bar and that arrow which I had no idea what it did.
– Adam 27 months ago
Adam - the arrow is for the legend.  If you have only one feed it meant little

Marshall - thanks for the feedback.  If you (or others) have specific feedback shoot me an email and we will try to accomodate feature requests.

Troy = it just hangs and never gets a calendar?  Couple things to try.
A) try it in IE (I only say try not use!!!)
B) clear your cookies in FF

Shoot me an email if it goes further than that.
– cgm 27 months ago
Hey....it broke!
Umm...I have 5 feeds listed.  One is the US Holidays.....hangs on loading.  Another one has no events coming up....my birthday calendar....also hangs on loading.  And the other 3...well......I think the feeds are getting intermingled a little bit.  At first none loaded, so I clicked the little black arrow to deselect all but one at a time and tried each one separately.
– Marshall 27 months ago
Marshall - yeah a recurring event change killed some other events feeds (US HOLIDAYS) - unselcted that one for now - should work -- working on it
– cgm 27 months ago
v.3.05
fix recurring issue (holiday feeds breaking) and handles cancelled events (I think - all I know is that is isnt throwing errors now)

please report strange recurrence issues
– cgm 27 months ago
Tried clearing cookies, tried using IE... nothing.  Read some more of these post, and noticed people are using the xml and not the ical feed that worked in thunderbird.  Still nothing.  Tried clearing cookies again, after changing the bookmarks... nothing

Getting the same messages as last time (IE adds a failed message)
– Troy 27 months ago
Anybody in Firefox getting:
"Found: Your Calendar - Single Feed
Requesting Calendar: Single Feed" indefinitely, I'm using NoScript extension, once I allowed googlepages.com everything worked great!
F-ing great work, first calendar app I can actually use and this module is the reason.
– BJ 27 months ago
Wow! I had two personal requests and a few hours later they were implemented. I wish every software developer would program in this pace! Many thanks.
– Spie 27 months ago
My times are 4 hours off in my events.  They're correct in my actual calendar!  Help!
– Nick 27 months ago
Nick - Can you email me - I haven;t gotten any other feedback issues that Time/date is off ----> Has anyone else seen this behaviour recently???

BJ - thanks for the tip

Troy - what is the failed message 'bad xml' or cant get bookmarks - Does it work with single feed no bookmarks? or does it not work at all - Have you tried this on a separate computer?  Shoot me an email so we can investigate more.

Spie - thanks.  The 'shrink to fit' option on the Module size will also remove any white space - assuming you only want to show a few events.  Otherwise, it will just grow
– cgm 27 months ago
Sorry don't remember the exact failed message, but "bookmarks" was in it.

I've also tried using my XP machine, to no avail.

Single feed works fine in Firefox and IE
– Troy 27 months ago
I've got a few events that start late & night and go into early the next morning.  On some of those events, the times show up correctly (ex. 11pm-1am), but on some others, the morning time gets changed to pm (11pm-1pm) even though it's 1am on the event info.  Any clue as to what if anything I'm doing wrong?
– ABC 27 months ago
Troy - in FF, are there any JS debugger (under tools) alerts for the IG page.
This sounds like one of two things - httprequest is failing - or you may have selected open links in new window in Google settings (I dont know why the latter causes issues but it has been seen to do so)

ABC - can you send me a feed which shows this behaviour??
it may be a formatting issue that I just didnt catch

thanks
– cgm 27 months ago
People are really going to like the very cool new feature that should be added to this module in the next days or so.  Hint: click on an appt. link.  Yes, this module just keeps getting better and better.

R.
– Quash 27 months ago
I have event time issues that show correctly in gCalendar but not in the module most  are 1 hour earlier, both start and end time.  I had assumed it was a daylight savings time issue (BST, GMT +0100).

I notice today that all day events both single and multiple are going over to the next day.
– Steve 27 months ago
current date/time at the top of the module displays in 12 hour format, regardless of preference between12/24 hour in time/display settings
– hezink8 27 months ago
Steve - please email me so we can work through this - as it seems to be something that happens to some - not to all

hezink8 - there are two time settings, one clock, one display - that is the display.
– cgm 27 months ago
Using this module renders my sticky notes unavailable with the latest build (v3.06). Please help!
– Justin 27 months ago
For some reason it is stuck on "Found: Your Calendar - Single Feed".

It also prevents gmail from working, it just says "Loading..."

Getting rid of this module makes gmail work, but not vice versa.

Thanks.
– Adam 27 months ago
Justin/Adam
A) if you are in FireFox - please let me know if there is any javascript debug messages
B) try turing off the infowindow option (that is the only bit of new core added)

let me know - thanks
– cgm 27 months ago
I haven't been able to go online since 3.03, not sure if anything else added since then. Disabled infowindow, still doesn't work. There is a javascript error in ie, can't tell anything in firefox.

For some reason after letting it sit for some time I happened to look up and gmail was showing but not the calendar. Hasn't happened since though and both don't work.

Thanks.
– Adam 27 months ago
Adam - are you using firefox?? can you? it has better debug verbage vs none at all
under tools -> javascript debugger it will show much better details -

is this repeatable on different machines?
– cgm 27 months ago
There's a good number of errors in firefox. I usually do use firefox, so yes I can use it. Never new about the javascript console. Lots of things about "error parsing value for property" and then various properties like display, cursor, white-space, width, and "Unknown property" for things like filter and zindex. Also something about "Error: _gel("spL" + (feedCount - 1) + "93") has no properties"
– Adam 27 months ago
Adam - ok that last error about spL
That shoudl be resolved - and would ahve really clogged you up -
clear the FF js console, reload IG and let me know what appears in the debug log

thanks
– cgm 27 months ago
Ok, gmail loads, now "No Events Found." is displayed in the calendar. Tried adjusting dates, etc. that's not it. Still the typical display, cursor, width, and white-space errors. And filter and zindex. That one error, you're right, is gone. Now the big error appears to be:
"Error: iwEV93 is not defined"

Thanks!
– Adam 27 months ago
Oddly, that last error "Error: iwEV93 is not defined" only seems to happen when that InfoWindow is not checked...
– Adam 27 months ago
Adam - baby steps!!
That error was because InfoWindows were off -
the error should be fixed now...let me know
the next error if any.

The no events found means just that (although I understand you should have some there) -- try loading the US HOLIDAYS calendar as it is a good baseline to know that things are working -

– cgm 27 months ago
Good idea. It was my fault. In one of my many attempts to fix the problem on my end I readded the module and used the calendar address instead of the private address.

Thanks!

the infowindows only work when the module is in the top row - and the page itself has not been scrolled down

– cgm 27 months ago
Hi. Thanks a lot for all your (continuing) work on this really useful widget. One thing that I would really like is the ability to group events by the day they occur, much like the Outlook Today window in ms outlook. This would cut down on repeated info. like the day for all my events today and allow more space per line for events (so maybe we could see a little bit of the location as well). To give you an idea of what I mean, here's a little mockup:

Today (1/5/06):
12:00-13:00 Meeting [rm. 4.3, BT]
15:00-16:30 Seminar [A10, KFB]

Tuesday (2/5/06):
11:00-12:00 Lunch w. John

Thursday (4/5/06):
All day event: Fred's Birthday
19:00-20:00 Dinner with Si [Pizza Express]

How easy would this be to implement? I think it would improve an already really helpful tool. Thanks again for all your efforts and no worries if this would be too much hassle/not popular enough to develop (though if this was the case maybe it could be an option somewhere).

Cheers!

Graham

Infowindow works in all positions for me.
– Adam 27 months ago
This is by far my favorite Google module, I think it's brilliant. I am just having one problem. The module is only showing my recurring events. I am using version 3.07b with Firefox.
– Fern 27 months ago
I can't figure out how to load to calanders.  ie one called Home and the other Bills.  I p type then in ie. Home, Bills - it doesn't work, but if I type them in seperately - ie only Home or Bills - then it works.  I was hoping to use the quick chioce option.

Any thoughts on how to resolve this, would be apprreciated.

thx.
– private 27 months ago
Adam - thanks, got it working for the most part,....

Fern: is this a calendar that you imported?  if you shrink the days ahead do they show?
shoot me an email with your feed url and I can check into it

p9: for multiple calendars, you need to make separate google bookmarks.  In the modules edit window, there is a link for directions on using the multiple.  Basically, you make 2 bookmarks with the same label (ie IGgcal) and then enter that label in to the module

– cgm 27 months ago
thanks Adam - probl;em solved.  I have the Label and the Star with the same name.

Cheers
– private 27 months ago
This tool is perfect!!! Five Stars by me.

Thank you very much for your effort and quick bugfixing, Chris!

Don't forget to vote, everyone!  Give Chris the props he's earned for developing such an awesome module, responding users' feedback quickly, integrating their ideas, and rolling out fixes, tweaks and feature upgrades at a speed that would make Larry Page and Sergey Brin blush.

not working, I'm getting 3 copies of the holidays, nothing on my personal stuff and I can't turn off the current day/date/time
– strega 27 months ago
strega - please email me with your feed urls -
current day/date/time - you are doing the CLOCK setting as opposed to the time/Date format settings - correct?
– cgm 27 months ago
will do..shall I use the link above?
– strega 27 months ago
my email is above - that'll get to me!
thanks

I keep getting "No Events Found." even though there is an event on the calendar... I am using v.3.07b with firefox 1.5. can anyone help with this issue? thanks...
– dave 27 months ago
Dave - do you get this same issue with a out-of-the-box calendar (ie Holidays) -
Is your day forward set far enough in advance for the module to grab it?
if you go to the feed itself via a web browser, does the event appear -

– cgm 27 months ago
This is a really nice module that I've been searching for since day 1 of Google Calendar.  One little comment, I like having the current time displayed, but the seconds is a little overkill and distracting.  It catches my eye like a flashing banner ad.
– Josh 27 months ago
Chris--

Thank you for fixing my problem and for creating my favorite Google module. I am a very happy camper!

Fern

Anyway to have an option to get rid of that "quick event."? For those of us who don't display the date it just takes up a whole line to itself...

Great job w/ everything by the way.

v.3.08
- quick add  (option to remove it is forthcoming - wow you guys are fast!)
- clock w/o seconds option
- better infowindow handling
- multicalendar tooltips (hover over color)
- calendar refresh on the Legend
- new format: Day Summary
– cgm 27 months ago
Wicked!!  Great update, Chris.
– Quash 27 months ago
I'm having some problems with the update.  The script hangs when loading.  Is this a Firefox problem (I just got the browser update).
– D 27 months ago
D - this is built in 1.5.0.2
in tools -> javascript debugger, are there any errors that can be pinpointed?
you may need to clear the console and reload IG

let me know - shoot me an email if it persists
– cgm 27 months ago
Firefox Update last night to 1.5.0.3

A script on this page may be busy or it may have stopped You can stop the script now or you may continue to see if the script will complete -  ... Stop Script - Continue ....
If you press continue - The module loads fine
Im guessing if I remove the module and and re add it it will magically work again ;-)  Well thats what Im going to do now ;-)

Nope Thats not Fixed it -  Ill wait .....

Thank you for your great work on this!

Two minor things you might possibly want to improve:
1.) Color Code does not equal the color code as defined within Google calendar.
2.) My "All day events" seem to get moved by the module by one day:
E.g., I have an all day event in Google calendar on May 19th, but the
module displays this date for the 20th.

DavidDB - adjust your Day Forward settings - your browser isnt handling the amount of data that it needs to churn through (this was one of the fears of multi-calnedar)

Marc - right now I can not match color codes, but you can - in the bookmark title add #HEXCODE of the color you want it to be.

All day events are still a bug from google - as discussed above and in the calendar Api group - they are working on a fix

WOW!  That screenshot does NOT do this module justice.  This is as good as something Google themselves would make.  Probably better (I don't imagine them offering so many customizations in fear of confusing people).  Dude.  Great job.

– amweiss 27 months ago
amweiss

make sure you are using the XML feed (not the ICAL)
if you are using firefox - can you let me know if there are any JS error in the console (under tools)

– cgm 27 months ago
I'm having a problem with multiple calendars. When there is a fullday event, it is appearing on the wrong day. Yesterday's event is being displayed today. Very confusing
– xenon 27 months ago
XML did it, must have hit the iCal button by mistake, thanks!
– amweiss 27 months ago
xenon - this is a known bug that is coming from the google feed itself -
they have a projection of a week or so to fix the feed - apologies
– cgm 27 months ago
Nevermind my last post...I was pointing to the public, rather than private, calendar.  Works great now.
– Bill 27 months ago
I seem to be having some (if not all) of the sam problems Adam was having a few days ago... multiple cals do not load in FireFox on WinXP.  Funny thing is, tho, it works just as it should in IE.  I get a bunch of width, cursor, display, white-space, filter, zIndex errors, as well as:
Error: _gel("spL" + (feedCount - 1) + "59") has no properties
I use Firefox 1.5.0.3 on Windows XP, and all I get is "Retrieving Bookmarks..."
In IE, all three calanders I chose and put in my Google Bookmarks display correctly.

– Kelley 27 months ago
Kelley - give it a whirl - let me know if you have the same results
– cgm 27 months ago
Awesome, dude!  Works like a charm.  You are a Google god!

This, by far, is the best Google homepage module ever!

– Kelley 27 months ago
I cannot get the mulitple calendar feed label part to work correctly.  How do i get this setup?
– Michael 27 months ago
Michael - You have to use Google bookmarks. Add your calendar XML feeds(check out google calendar on how to do this exactly) to your google bookmarks and use the same label for each boookmark...e.g. "calendar". Then just give the module to use "calendar" as the label for multiple feeds.
– xenon 27 months ago
Michael, if you look in the Edit section of the module, you'll see that Chris has written some good instructions as to how to set this up.

The basics:
1) Get each feed from Google Calendar.
2) Create a bookmark for each feed at Google Bookmarsk www.google.com/bookmarks
3) Each bookmark will have a different name, of course.  But, all your Calendar feeds need to share the same Label name (one word only)  i.e. gcal.
4) Add this label name in the Edit Section of the Google Calendar Module and you're done.

Tell us if you have any problems.
– Quash 27 months ago
Thanks for all your help getting this working.  This now works great!  Been using it for several days and I have no complaints.

v.3.10
some tweaks and under the hood items -

thanskf or all the feedback!
– cgm 27 months ago
For those risk takers - I have released a Mark II version which grabs your Calendars and Colors without bookmarking.  It seems to be blazing fast but, of course, in the words of Google - it is highly Beta.

www.r2unit.com/gmodule/gcalM2.xml

I am not 100% sure if this is the way the production version will be going, as this way does have some limitations.  But I would love feedback and comment.
– cgm 27 months ago
Wow! A great version! Does everything by Magic, much easier to set up. Mine finds all my calendars, and actually one more that doesn't appear in GCal. It's named a word I recognize as having used in my other calendars tho. Any idea what might be the problem? Is this a previously seen issue? Doesn't really matter tho, doesn't affect my usage of the module. The new (beta) version is GREAT!
– hjsb 27 months ago
How do you use the Mark II? - it's just giving me a webpage of xml...
– Finn 27 months ago
i have a multiday all-day event that starts on 5 may and ends 7 may, but on the module its appearing as Sat May 6~8. how can i go around this?
– hezink8 27 months ago
i guess the issue is corrected in Mark II. btw great work on the multiple calendars in Mark II. i have one problem, its displaying another calendar called work cal when i choose which calendars to show. i dont have it listed in my google calendar, but i might have added it before and removed it. i dont think it should show either way.

the module is great! thanks
– hezink8 27 months ago
Finn - if you want to try the Mark II, try www.google.com/ig/add
But bear in mind that it's beta, and therefore should be considered unstable, etc etc.
– hjsb 27 months ago
hjsb - Great, thanks

cgm - Good stuff, mate

MII

Install: www.google.com/ig/add

as described - its beta.

I thought I figured out the secret code for deleted calendars - if anyone who is experiencing this would like to help resolve, please shoot me an email -

Thanks for all the feedback - I am glad MII is working well for some!
– cgm 27 months ago
Wow!!! The MII is awesome.  It seems to solve the problems I was having with single all-day and multi-day events going over to the next day.  It solves the problem I was having with incorrect times being one hour earlier than in my gCalendar events.  Great work Chris.  Thank you for this great module.

(For anyone that uses Firefox, Gmail and the gmail skins extension it now allows the left hand column of your google homepage in a column on the right of Gmail.  Ideal I find for showing the gCal module)

Chris - are you using google IG at www.google.com/ig or are you in a different land which uses a different domain?  It _should_ work in other domains - but there may be a snafu somewhere

if you arent using it in .com - can you try it and report back
– cgm 26 months ago
My domain is www.google.co.uk/ig.

I think this must be the problem as the page does display properly on www.google.com/ig

GCal 3.15 makes my Google Personalized Home update/completely reload about every second in FireFox 1.5, but it works in IE, same behavior with both Mark I and Mark II
– Björn Carlsson 26 months ago
Strange, when I went back to try to turn off the clock, the problem had disappeared. Earlier I did try to restart the browser and show the clock without seconds....Well not a problem anymore.
– Björn Carlsson 26 months ago
Fantastic module! This makes Google Personalized Homepage useful for me =D =D =D

One bit of quirkiness I've encountered, however. When using the Quick Event button, the new event is added to my default GCal, rather than to the GCal which is actually being displayed in that particular module.

I'm using www.google.com/ig, and Camino.
– sutehi 26 months ago
v1.3.16

@sutehi - currently there is not automated way to push the data into any other calendar other than the default one in Google Calendar itself -

thanks
– cgm 26 months ago
Just got MarkII Magic; looks great, but it won't take my multiple calendars. I've Google Bookmarked them both and I can get each one to show up individually when I type the corresponding name in the "Labels" input box, but I can't seem to figure out how to show both calendars at the same time.

Keep up the good work.
– Nick 26 months ago
@Nick - MII, doesnt require bookmarks.  It _should_ pick up your Calendars automagically from gcal itself.

for MI - all the LABELS need to be the same, the TITLE can be anything.  So you would only ever have 1 LABEL

Let me know if that helps

vM.3.18
running everything from local server as googlepages killed my bandwidth.

any suggestions to other hosts that wont kick me like that? Maybe they are jealous of my module? ;)
– cgm 26 months ago
I faced the same problems many times and changed many hosting servers, but nothing fits better. For now googlepages is working fine for me. I transfered everything xml, images, js etc there. Every free hosting has bandwidth restriction. If I get some I will surely share with you.

vicky

– Vikram Agrawal 26 months ago
@vicky - thanks for the info - looks like I met the googlepages bandwidth as well -
well, I will keep looking!!
– cgm 26 months ago
RE: bandwidth

it seems from some looking, that it is a bandwidth issue based on IP
blog.outer-court.com/forum/25699.html

I can not confirm this, but I do know, I did not have any issues with the module while others were getting bandwidth warning.

So - for now, will host on my site -
– cgm 26 months ago
What is the fix for the time zone problem?  When I use javascript and php to read the date in xml format, the content section contains a date/time stamp that includes America/Los Angeles.
The google calendar correctly refers to Eastern Standard Time.

Thanks in advance.
– jeanine 26 months ago

v.3.21

added default view for quick select
– cgm 26 months ago
It works well. However, it will be even better if it supports DELETE function.
– Ted 26 months ago
I added events using quick event - quick add...they show up in the module...however, they don't show up on my google calendar...which means that I can't delete them.

Is it supposed to show up in Google Calendar or not? Also, yes, delete functionality would be great.

Other than that, this is an amazing piece of work. Kudos!
– Vorn 26 months ago
@vorn - the events wind up in your DEFAULT calendar in Google Calendar itself.
If you open the XML feed of your calendar in your web browser, does the should
display as, that is how the module finds it - nothing is stored in the module

as for deleted events - I attempted to do this, but there were some obstacles
to making it work correctly - unfortunately
– cgm 26 months ago
All I get when I try the multiplae calendars is: "Retrieving Bookmarks...

gcal (mk 1 -- the name on google's personalized frontpage isn't always consistent) now  works nice for me.   That said, it took a bunch of trying to get my wife's GCal to read my calendar.  turns out that to read another person's calendar, share settings for that google calendar MUST be set to "share all information with everyone" regardless of the settings provided for that calendar (in my case, I tested it with giving my wife each of the different permissions available for the individual user).  If the other person's general calendar share settings are set otherwise ("none" or "free/busy") gcal tries for a while and if it finally loads the calendar (it may not even load the calendars that it can read), it will display both user's calendars as the personal calendar.

I haven't tried this against more than two calendars, but with two calendars, I was able to force it to display a set of calendar entries with the "refresh calendar" -- at times, the second of the two calendars (usually the public, other person's calendar) would be the only listing displayed, but with the entries of the personal calendar (here, my wife's account would display her calendar but using the colors and so forth that were provided to display mine); other times it would act as though displaying both calendars, but each event was actually just hers (here, one entry would use her color, and one mine).

now on to try mk2.
– dave 25 months ago
I use the mark 1 version, because the mark 2 version doesn't work properly in the .co.uk domain, and because I want two calendars (personal and business) on my google homepage.
– Chris 25 months ago
I've been very pleased with the mk1 version for months, I'm gutted now mk1 seems to have died for the same reason as above: I use the google.co.uk domain :(
– paulkie 24 months ago
This is so bizzarre - the MI version
r2unit.com/gmodule/gcal.xml

seems to be magically changed to the MII version whenever I try to add it -
Can anyone else confirm this??

What is the version number under EDIT

I am going to try to swap something to get it rsync'd -- err, strange things have happeneded since they launched the google/ig/authors page

– cgm 23 months ago
yes - its seems like they are for some strange reason NOT letting me push out the MI version - they automatically cache it as the MII

it makes no sense to me
– cgm 23 months ago
until I figure out why they reindexed my stuff:
r2unit.com/gmodule/gcalm1.xml

this is the MI version
– cgm 23 months ago
Google has confirmed that they cross-linked the two versions into just the single version - they said that they will look into it -so hopefully there will be a resolution soon

sorry
